Downloaded iOS 7 but it won't install?

Question

I downloaded iOS 7 on my iPhone 5, but when I click "Install" and I agree to the terms and conditions, it says "Software update is not available at this time. Try again later.". Why can't I install it if I have downloaded it? How can I fix this?

Apple still needs to verify that the update you just downloaded is being installed on a legit device. I guess the apple verification servers are overloaded given that a big bunch of folks are trying it together this being the first few hours after the release. I tried it for about 5 times and it finally went through. Either keep retrying or wait for a couple of hours when things should ease up.

I have turned my iPhone 5 on and off and hard restarted it once and tried installing iOS 7 ten times and still won't install. I will keep trying until it installs, but it's crazy how it's not working for a lot of people.

Im seriously having the SAME problem! It comes up as "Software update cannot be installed" and ive tried about 7 times! I've downloaded it and my computer wont let me install it either!! Apple needs to fix this. Even if its because millions of people are trying to download it, THEY SHOULD KNOW HOW TO SOLVE THAT! They knew millions of people would be downloading it at one time so they should allow millions of people to download it without a problem.

I had the same problem. Try installing it another way: Connect your iPhone 5 to your computer and go to iTunes. Click the "Check for Update" (on the Iphone 5 device tab within iTunes). iTunes will then download and install the update onto the device without any problems. Hope this helps.

I've also restarted twice. Tried installing about 5-7 times now. It's been downloaded for a solid hour or two now, not sure what the deal is!

I say, if you're not willing to wait a day or two, JUST KEEP TRYING!!!

I have tried to install it more than 20 times and it came up with the same problem but, IT WORKED after all. I did unplug my phone from the computer before trying again though, I don't if it has anything to do with it. After unplugging the phone, it worked on the 4th try.

I"m having this problem too. I started the download on my iPad and my iPhone at the same time, the iPad worked just fine but my iPhone won't install. I've restarted the phone and tried it about 20x, and it just won't work. So annoying! I'm going to keep trying though since others finally got it to work.

There have been occurrences when Apple's activation servers go down on account of the monster amount of immediate requests, and if you hit that button at the second the prompts appear, you might be left with a device that has no restoring in sight until the servers get up again. (Basically tommorow people try to download at once so it doesnt work but keep trying or try again later tonight or tommorow morning)

Mine did that too. What I did, was I went on my pc to download & install iOS 7 and while I was downloading it, I retried installing it on my phone while my phone was plugged into my pc. It failed to install at last six times before I plugged it in, but this time the apple popped up on my phone screen and is now installing. You could try that!

Do you never read the questions asked ? here is one you should read I tried to update my iPhone to iOS 7 online and now I'm locked out of my phone. I can't get into because I'm not a developer, I can't restart, recover, or anything, because iTunes has blocked me out.

Just so you guys now. Apple usually let's their users know ahead of time that it may be wise to wait one to two days after the update comes out to avoid this very issue. As most of you have guessed, yes, their network gets bombarded with literally millions of requests to install, and things get backed up. I assure you Apple is all over this and your install will work eventually. Keep trying.

Is your iCloud backup running? If so, either wait for it to complete or cancel it and try installing the software update. I had the same problem. Just cancelled the iCloud backup and tried... it went through.. May be I'm lucky. Give it a try though!

I am having same problem. I have turned on and off at least 3 times and retried at least 15 times and still nothing. Hopefully it will eventually download. Frustrating but understandable with anything new.

Same here on both my ipad and iphone! I've hard reset both of them, but still getting the same problem.

I wouldn't mind if it was a download problem. But the fact it is actually downloaded just makes this all the more annoying.

It was doing the same thing to mine. I tried like 4 times, then decided to restart my phone and try again and it seems to be working right now. Only time will tell i guess but its at the apple icon right now so i think it is all well

The Apple servers are too busy, like when you call a busy phone line and all you get is a dial tone. Your best bet is to either keep trying in hopes that you'll be able to sneak into the queue or wait until tomorrow.

I have lost track of the number of times I've tried to download this. I have tried the hard reset with no luck either. Just glad I'm not the only one with this problem...very frustrated!

Make sure your phone has more than 50% first off and make sure you have good connection. I had the same problem as everyone here but after a few try's mine started downloading

Kept retrying for about an hour. It finally went through. I don't know, maybe 20 tries or more. Just keep at it, it will eventually work.

I didn't have to do a hard restart, I think that is unnecessary. Just keep retrying.

Yeah had the same problem and was thinking it was only me but it's not all you have to do is keep installing it and eventaully it will take you to the apple logo and download

My phone was having that problem too, but it's not that it has to be a certain battery percentage or you don't need to try it a bajillion times, first turn off your phone and then turn it back on and try it...that seemed to do the trick!

I was experiencing the same thing until I scrolled to the bottom of the privacy agreement thing. I scrolled to the bottom and agreed and it worked. Hope the same works for you...
