This may serve as a starting guide....

http://brahmi.sourceforge.net/docs/KannadaComputing.html

I also noticed the Tunga font style is built into Windows XP....

"There are a number of TrueType fonts available for Kannada among which some of them follow an encoding standard (like ISCII) and others do not follow any encoding standard and is tied to a proprietary encoding. The Kannada Ganaka Parishat has standardised the glyph set to be used by all the Software that support Kannada. Microsoft has released an OpenType font (with TrueType outlines) for Kannada – “Tunga.ttf” that follows Unicode as its encoding standard."

I do not use or understand the knnada language. I was curious, and found the information on the web. More links are listed below...

Never use any programs for that. Programs may cost you or requires installation. Also it may require you to install extra fonts. Instead, just go to http://www.iit.edu/~laksvij/language/kannada.html

Go to http://www.iit.edu/~laksvij/language/index.html for a list of English to Indian languages transliterators.

Its free for use and doesnt require u to use any font or program. It also doesnt pinch your pocket. All are done with HTML, mainly javascript. They all are 100% Virus/spyware/adware free!.

NOTE: YOU MAY REQUIRE TUNGA.TTF AND MANGAL.TTF FOR KANNADA AND HINDI RESPECTIVELY. SIMILAR TTF FILES ARE REQUIRED FOR THAT PAGE TO WORK. THEY ARE MOSTLY INSTALLED ALONG WITH THE OS. BUT SOMETIMES, VERY RARELY, THEY ARE NOT. IN SUCH CASES, YOU CAN COPY THE FONT FILE FROM SOME OTHER COMPUTER INTO A FLOPPY AND PASTE IT IN %windir%\FONTS and then restart your computer (%windir% denotes the windows directory).
