how do i change the preview settings on sony vegas 8 pro?

i just downloaded sony vegas 8 pro but my preview window is really jerky, skipping parts etc... how do i change the settings of this so it jsut plays normally?

increase or decrease the size of preview window. continue increasing or decreasing till you sow the firs video preview size jumped. you can also change the quality of preview using the option on the upper side of this window. i don't suggest more than preview quality.

Right above your Video Preview window.. u need to change the setting to "draft". Its probably on "best" or "good" now. That'll allow you to do real time editing. Just make sure when you render that you render at good or best in the settings. Your "draft" setting on your video preview will NOT affect the final movie. Good luck
