Question:
why do people like PC's? (in response to earlier question)?

Ok, this question posted earlier, (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AoBRnIQDVdIdO_Kxj7jA1G5z7hR.;_ylv=3?qid=20080105113009AASdpYc) is really getting on my nerves. I've had macs for about a year now, and I will NEVER switch back (I have both G4, and Intel Core 2 Duo computers) to Microsoft. Microsoft sucks, and Linux, while okay for most "nerd-types" because you have to know what you are doing TO INSTALL THE FREAKING OPERATING SYSTEM! (I've tried to install several versions of Linux in the past, to no avail, some made my computer crash, others wouldn't let me boot up to my windows partition... etc.) For most computer users, they don't need all the "crap" that comes with Windows, and they don't want an Uber-complicated operating system that is hard to use (I HAVE used Ubuntu, and it sucked, it was supposed to be easy to use, but it was hard). Prior to switching to Mac, I ran Windows since I was 8, (I am now 16). And once I tried mac, I never looked back, it is the best!

Okay, about Linux: I'm far from a "nerd-type", just today I had to ask for instructions on how to network two computers, and I use Linux everday and don't find it at all challenging. Maybe it's an IQ thing, not a "nerd-type" thing. Linux takes half a brain to operate, so it may not be easy for you. About installing Linux, different distros use different installers. Some are text mode, some are graphical, some require knowledge of your own hardware, some auto-configure everything. Have you ever herd of YaST? It's the easiest installer that I've ever used. And if GRUB wouldn't let you boot into Windows, you just need to edit the GRUB config and add Windows to the OS choices or increase the time to choose. It's dead simple. GRUB is an awesome bootloader. About Ubuntu: it's not my favorite distro, but it's great for people new to Linux. I started with Ubuntu and after about a month I said "screw this, there's a million distros, I wanna try em all". That was only about 6 months ago. So I tried about 10 and settled on Debian, which is perfect for me. But recently I tried Sabayon, and I'm really digging it, so I may end up switching. There's nothing wrong with macs, it's good to see they are becoming more popular. Choice is a good thing. But don't try to say Linux is too hard for the average user to learn just because it's too hard for you.

In my oppion most people use what is easiest. With windows being the main desktop operating system it is easier to get help and support when you have a problem. The software available is large and most of the time very usable. I have used different Linux disrto's and they range from easy to install and use to pull your hair out hard. They are based on the Unix operating system which by the way if you are using OSX on the mac , it is also base on a Unix operating system call Free BSD. You have a fancy GUI on the surface but underneath it is a Unix system like Linux. Finally most people use what the fist thing they started with. Have a good day.

I am also 16

A PC is hardware, not software. So don't interchangeably use Windows and PC. Modern versions of Linux are just as easy to use as Windows and OS X, Linux is just different. If you'd take the time to learn ubuntu, you'd love it. But you're afraid to take the time to learn something new. But anyway, lets compare PC's (hardware) to MAC's (hardware)

MACs and PC's nowadays are pretty much built the same, they use the same hardware. The only differences are:

MACs

-All MAC's have to be built by apple

-A MAC is more expensive than a PC with the same hardware

- Can legally run OS X (which really isn't an advantage :-p)

PC's

-Anyone can build them

-They're cheaper than a MAC with the same hardware

- Can illegally run OS X86 (which really isn't an advantage :-p)

The PC is a very versatile piece of kit as it can run Linux.

Its just unfortunate that many people use a PC to run winblows, they don't know what they are missing out on.

Long Live Linux.

Im the exact opposite. I have no fu**ing idea what apples thinking. I just hate how macs work, how there set up,and what they can preform. Apple made macs for begginers, but advanced users only use them for editing. Just remember, photoshop isnt a game!

I duel boot vista and ubuntu and im fine. Windows does what macs do and more! Much more. Sure you frown on our virus' but thats what AVG is for. Linux is just there,i just use it everynow and then just for the programming compiler.

I guess its what you prefer. I like to do more programming, and complete my tasks faster,so i choose windows. My english teacher always brags about macs, and none of our class have them because we all know they suck.

So you are saying, " I'm too stupid to run Linux. I don't like Microsoft. Mac will coddle me and make me feel good so it's the best. If you don't agree you are stoopid."

Is this accurate?
