i mostly play video games on my computer so my question is simple. Will upgrading to windows 7 mean much to me or will it be like xp-vista upgrade where it was a give and take, Some games didnt even improve in how they ran at all. others got worse till i upgraded my computer.
Outside of that what system is better for gaming a 32bit or a 64?

@Turnip: Not entirely true. I've heard great things about Windows 7 increasing performance in gaming (as much as double or triple the FPS on lower-grade machines). I just installed Windows 7 on a partition backup comp, and I'll be testing it out later today after installing drivers/programs. Until then, know that I've heard great things about Windows 7 and gaming performance.
To the person asking the question -- it's okay to install on your main computer, as long as you know what you're doing. Create a partition (or even better, get another HDD), and install 7 on there, while keeping your original OS on your original HDD. I would also recommend backing up your current HDD to ensure that there is no data loss. Keep the installation DVD handy (it has a recovery menu, which works well), and learn how to dualboot so you can safely enter your previous operating system in case something goes wrong.

you will possibly be able to choose to overclock your crappy CPU and Video card even however the reward does not frequently additionally be incredibly incredibly nicely well worth the hassle. without figuring out to purchase for a greater constructive board that's waiting to utilising a greater constructive CPU and additionally getting a greater constructive video card, and additionally getting greater advantageous RAM then you definately can now not incredibly do plenty to improve your gaming average overall performance. Upgrading to homestead homestead windows 7 skill which you quite approximately continuously ought to choose to improve your hardware as exact with the aid of actuality 7 is an better stressful OS. consequently video games have been appearing worse because of the shown fact that your improve. homestead homestead windows 7 desires now not decrease than, 3GB of ram to function ideal. And as quickly as you will run video games on recommendations-blowing of that, make it 4GB.

windows 7 is a beta product and beta products should never be installed on your main computer unless you are capable of undoing the damage they can and probably will cause to your system.
you just need more ram and better graphic acceleration it is not the operating system that governs how well a game will play on your machine but the machines capabilities.
