The latest version of this browser came with a very annoying feature. I like to start my browsing with a blank page. You can still specify this preference under the browser "Options" as usual. When I open a new browser, I first get a blank page as expected. But when I open a New Tab, I no longer get a blank page. Instead I get a co-branded Google/Firefox promo page. It annoys me greatly, as does any unwanted advertising.

Has anyone discovered a method to turn off or disable this feature? I do not want to ever see the Google/Firefox Start Page again. Please help if you can!

Try this:



In the URL bar type:

about:config



Click ok on the void your warranty (a joke form Firefox - it comes with no warranty).



In the search bar type or copy and paste:

browser.newtab.url



Write down what the value is, this way you can change it back if you like.



This will tell Firefox what to do when you open a new tab. Change the value to:

about:blank



Or whatever you want. Like:

about:home (which is probably what you do not like

about:mozilla (which is a thing with Mozilla)
