Do i have to purchase a new version of Mac to update it on my computer? I would like to update to MAC OSX 10.5.5 so i can run newer things on my computer. Is this possible? Do i need to delete the older version"? How do i get a newer version on my computer and up and running with up to date things? My computer is older but works fine except for outdated software. Any help would be appreciated.

Mac OS X Leopard (10.5) is a paid update. You would need to purchase the disk from Apple. You can order online and have it shipped, or visit an Apple retail or reseller.

Make sure your computer meets the requirements.

Minimum System Requirements

Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor

512MB of physical RAM

DVD drive for installation

After you get the disk, you run the installer. You have two choices; clean install or upgrade. Clean erases everything, and upgrade keeps your Apps and documents. The installation takes care of all the details.

if it is an older Apple computer, it might not even run Snow Leopard, check that first "Your Mac must have an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor to run Snow Leopard/Lion. Find out if your current Mac has one of these processors by clicking the Apple icon at the top left of your screen, then choosing About This Mac." if you have a PowerPC Mac, it can't run Snow Leopard. If you have an Intel Mac, then you can buy the Snow Leopard upgrade pack ($29 one you linked above). However buying this upgrade means you will loose iLife (iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, and Garage band) these programs will disappeer and won't run. You will have to re-buy these apps in the Mac App Store after you upgrade
