hi friends
i am newbie to linux ... i just want to transform from win 7 to linux ...
i am using net book of acer aspire one happy2...
so plz give me best flavour which suits for my netbook ...
my requirements are just internet browsing and document viewing and some videos of my course either in youtube , and importantly it must support usb and usb modem ... as i dont have wifi ...

plz help me i am in confusion in selecting a best linux os ... as i read lot of reviews on various linux flavours ...

Go with ubuntu. It is by far the nicest one and it is very easy to start out with. I personally use ubuntu all the time and recommend it. It has some great features and is the most supported linux distro not only in terms of programs, but for updates and stability as well.

ubuntu does not support usb modems 'out of the box', neither do most linux distributions

Ubuntu is the goto choice for new Linux users. Clean and polished layout, less "hackish" than some of the other distros, and has a easy user interface built for everyone to understand.

go ahead and try some like Ubuntu or mint or ...

but you might consider some netbook oriented distros here:
