So I had no background, and I save it as a .tiff keeping the transparency. But when my class and I try posting our photos on our google sites for our teacher to grade, the background turns out black. My teacher wanted us to all figure out what was wrong and why we can't get the transparent background. Any suggestions?

Hi there

As opposed to saving your image as .TIFF format - save a copy (File > Save As) using the .PNG format. By doing this, the transparency will be preserved when displaying online.

Be aware though, that whatever background the website has that you are displaying on - will show through the transparent elements of your image.

Hope that helps!!

could be the a number of things: the browser you're using, the method you're using to save it, the host site itself, or the file type you saved it as (tiff) -- most likely the major reason .... or any/all combination of those things.

Tiff isn't really widely supported format for showing work on the web. It's good for sharing files between designers, printers, etc..., but not so much for posting/hosting on the Internet.

Are you required to save it as a tiff? If not, try a more transparency-supported format like png-24. I always recommend using file > save for web and devices, and not "save as" when saving files for digitally hosting/viewing.

In photoshop cs3, initially open a photograph(JPEG format) on photoshop, than shrink all of the pointless area (which you cutoff / white area) with magic wand gadget or pen gadget, than you save this photograph as a png format. you obtain clean historic past.
