Question:
I need help finding a WMV9 codec for Windows VISTA. I need Windows Media Video 9 - Advanced Profile?
2007-12-28 15:18:33 UTC
I downloaded some very nice WMV (video) files from somewhere and I can't play them on my machine which has Windows Vista.
I need the WMV 9 (advanced profile) Codecs, and it has to be for Vista, (NoT XP, Not Millenium, Not 2000). I tried to install a program called WM9Codecs.EXE and received an error saying
"This version of WMP Codecs can be installed only on Windows 2000, XP, & W Server 2003".
I'm starting to think that the codecs do not exist at all and that I shall never be able to play those movies.

I ran a program called GSpot v2.70a, and it confirmed that the
codecs I need are "Video: WVC1, VC-1 Adv WMP11, Audio: 0x0162 Windows Media Audio 9 Prof", ...
whatever that means I do not know.
I'd be gratefull for any help the from the Yahoo people.
