You have the Win32 virus still actively running in the system memory. It is a tough one to get rid of but you can do it using your choice of good anti-virus teamed up with an anti-adware. I used Avast and adaware08. After I was done, I needed to use regcleaner" to find hidden components. I have also used Spy-bot with similar success. You should also disable all startup items in msconfig by going to start\run\ type:"msconfig" and then hit enter. The far right tab has the start up items. None are needed until you get your PC working properly. The virus I was dealing with was downloaded by a client of mine that inadvertently installed XP-antivirus which is a scam. Hope this helps.
It's the right answer!

Try downloading this tool, it's the best defrag software around. It improves your disk speed, way more reliable than the windows built-in defrag soft. It's called Auslogic disc defrag.

Could be that the file system on the disk has some errors which need to be corrected before defragmentation can run safely.

Try running CHKDSK /r on the disk, and defragmenting once again.

The instructions to run error checking are here:

I think virus is infected to your system or your OS must be reinstalled.
