Cross platform compatabiliy for word?

Question

I have to do a writing assignment,the problem is that the operating system I am working on is Ubuntu and the people I am supposed to send this assignment are using windows. so my question is : Is there any cross platform software or solution which could make the files readable for both parties.

LibreOffice, which comes with Ubuntu, can save files in Word format.

There is a little word printed on the top menu bar that says HELP!

People have spent weeks writing the HELP files try using it for a change then you will find out how to use Libre Office

Sure, use Libre Office and save the file in the Word format, either .doc or .docx.
