hey

my windows vista Home Premium is running nicly but the funny thing is that the boot time has increased to 2 mineuts insted of 30 seconds and now is eating 1.1gb memory when idle,
i know vista is a memory hogger and it dosent bother me its just VERY recently that its starting to jump and refuse to respond and its even making my Windows media player jump
all i run are 3-4 programes half the time which are

Windows Msn Live
Internet Explorer 7
Windows Media Player 11 and somtimes
Anti Virus/Anti Spyware sofware ( but thats weekly)

Any ideas to this current situation?

Well for one thing your computer only has 2Gb of RAM so that leaves less than 1Gb for operational purposes. Also, you may have a bunch of stuff starting up with the computer. You could go to MSCONFIG and stop running some things at start up but I wouldn't recommend doing it on your own if your not very computer savvy. Also, although you only run 4 programs, if you open task manager you will see that you probably have processes running in the background somewhere in the 70's.

Ive had same problems with Vista starting slowly and acting slow once turned online. Ive turned off wmptnetw.exe Its a program in Media player which sometimes goes crazy. Doesnt know if it works with you.

You might have gotten a virus or something like that. I recommend you to scan your entire system with an antivirus software, like AVG Free, which is a very good one!!=)

Try a disc de-frag.
