Is it better to develop Websites using Sharepoint? If yes, is it easy to hire sharepoint developer for any pro?

I want to create an application where we can track and trace the resources allocated to a certain project. And also maintaining the projects details and updations in it, if their is any problem the user can raise a ticket regarding the issue and it will get forwarded to the desired executive. and so on.......... I have been advised that i can use sharepoint for this but i would like to be sure.?

SharePoint is a CMS (content management system) and capable of lots of things including everything you want to do as well as version control, collaboration, websites and loads of other uses.

If I'm not mistaken, Sharepoint is a product that allows more than one developer to access and modify applications so the application doesn't have to reside on any individual person's PC, but on a server. It's Microsoft's solution for shared programming tasks, and as such, not a programming or developing environment, but a developer's tool when multiple programmers are working on the same task (or different tasks, but the same project).



(Again, this was my own impression of Microsoft's Sharepoint, and I could be wrong. Maybe some one else has better information about this product.)
