Try using a condensed font. This leaves less space between letters in each word without changing the font size or the spacing between lines.

Highlight text, right click, font, advanced options, spacing, condensed.

Otherwise, using Arial narrow rather than Arial can make a huge difference.

Tw Cen MT Condensed is about the smallest that is a standard font unless you want to download something.

Look through your text, and summarize some of your paragraphs in fewer words. That's the way to do it.

Honestly everyone, font should not be chosen to make the content fit to a page. If you wrote more than the page limit using a standard font then you need to shorten your text. This is also an exercise and a good skill to learn.

If you need a serif font, consider Perpetua, which is included in

Access 97 SR2

Office 97, 2000 Premium, Pro 2003, 2007, Mac 2008, 2010

PhotoDraw 2000

Picture It! 98, 99, 2000, 2002

Publisher 97, 98, 2000, 2007

Works 2002, 9

Perpetua (Per_____.TTF) is widely available, for example, http://crosscanalday.com/Formulaire/fonts/

I once needed to add a very small space between two lines in order to fill in an image of an application that I posted in Word. I got the space down to 1 pt for the font size. I wouldn't recommend using 1 pt font size for anything, but in this case, that extra space helped align the text I typed with the line in the application (image).

Actually you can't change your font size because they are requiring you to use a 12 font.

You could highlight everything, then go down the list of fonts. As you go down the list you will see your highlighted text changing.

If you are allowed to select any font type you wish, just choose a condensed font that keeps everything on one page. Someone else mentioned Arial Narrow, which may work.

Use a "condensed" version font.

eg. "Gloucester MT Extra Condensed"

That takes around 60% the space of "Times New Roman".
