It depends on what operating system you're running. If you use Linux, it comes with many of these tools packaged with it so you put together code. If you're using Windows, you can go to their websites, download it for your specific version of Windows and install it (usually an .exe file). Then, you just use a text editor, write the code and save it with the languages appropriate file extension and run it. For instance, Ruby, filename.rb. Perl, filename.pl; Python, filename.py
Let me know if you need any other information.

In my experience, if drives are incorrectly set to master or slaves then the PC doesn't boot up at all. Yours does so I doubt this is the problem. When the PC boots can you "see" the drive with it's assigned letter in explorer? If so, then Windows thinks everything is OK. I don't think a driver would make the system crash in this way - probably just the drive. It may be the power cable to the drive is dodgy. I've had that and drive disappears but the rest of the PC stays alive. I'm more in agreement with the lack of power argument here, but a simple test would be to unplug another drive if you have one spare and see if the system stays up.

This is so-called "own self" programs, means they not use windows or any other support to run. You have to install him in the C directory and call him by its self. Note, Lynux is something similary as windows, but other of quoted in you questions are "narrow specific area" programs (i.e. SQL is for data base creation and operations, Perl is for programming of the financial and numeric transactions and graphics e.t.c.) Therefore you have to install him (your PC must got good performances and big HD) and use him (of course if you know to use him). Veradisca & Best Regards, Neven.

Linux is available for free download in different distributions, like Fedora, Mandriva, etc. Once you install linux, you get Python as a part of that. Otherwise python is available for free download from www.python.org. Fedora Core version of Linux is available from fedora.redhat.com. You can download Oracle 10g from www.oracle.com and once you have Oracle, you can also work with SQL in it. Similarly Perl is available for download from www.perl.com
