ive looked these proceses up and it turns out that they are by the microsoft corporation, but they are also registered as trojans.
ive done tests with: avg, spybot, add protect, adware se, and have cleaned the system with ccleaner. they picked up some viruses and stuff but the problem is still there.
the problem is that after i connect to the internet (broadband) the hour glass is always there and the cpu usage is at 100 %.
after about 30 mins of connection the comp comes to a complete halt coz it cant take the crap.
i cant reinstall my OS coz i dont have the cd.
im on windows xp
the scans didnt pick up any trojans.
and there 5 SVCHOST.EXE running at the same time and one of them takes most of usage
please answer quick coz my comp is gonna freeze

and drivers(dll) keep going missing out of my anti virus software, so i have to keep searching the dll and then putting it in the programs folder

thanx
:)

SVCHOST is not a trojan it is a micro soft program that takes care of comp start up, try going into task manager, processes the let your comp sit for like 10 mins, if SVCHOST is still taking above 10 CPU then you have a prop. Now why the heck you have 5 i don't know, that's just weird, just NEVER end either program, cause both are vital to run your comp, but try (i dont know what this might do so be careful) killing the 4 that aren't taking up CPU usage, if something goes wrong just restart. Now please not that the SVCHOST and Internet might be totally different problems, Both of these are normal

You can also go to run and type in msconfig ok. Select what you dont want to run like svchost, Leave the important stuff alone. Like sys tray. I use a program called start cop and daily there is stuff in there I disable from running because I'm on the internet alot. See if you can download start cop for free or something like it. It wont permanently remove it ( you would have to format ) but it will disable it.

svchost.exe will run as many instances as the pc needs.

it might run 2, it might run 5, it might run 10.

crss.exe is also a normal process.

neither of these are trojans or viri.

look at task manager and see if theres anything active you aren't using and close it.

it should free up some cpu usage.

consider increasing the size of your page file.

try using Hijackthis to see if you can remove any processes that aren't valid.
