Do macbooks operating system's OSX update themselves without pay?

Like say you have OSX version 10.6 now will it update to 10.7 later without paying for it?

No. You can for example get 10.6.X for free. But not 10.7

Yes. They update for free. However, your example would not be an update. That would be an upgrade. Updates e.g., 10.6 to 10.6.1 is free. The next version of MacOSX will not be free.

No the only charge will be from say tiger to leopard to snow leopard.
Other than that its just like windows updates and how its free and you can choose what updates to install if you wish.
Thank god no one charges for that lol.
