Error Messages at startup and when opening programs?

Before all this happened, i got a bsod on startup and then went to safemode, dis some msconfig work and then did hijackthis scan and "fix check"ed most of them.. and then i clicked "go back to last safe settings" or something with the same meanings when it gives u the option to go to safe mode..... and then now when it boots it gives me like 50 error messages and then when i try to open some programs such as paint it gives me an error messages(sometimes the same ones 3 times or more)
Example of error(for paint) message
"C: \WINDOWS\system32\mspaint.exe"
it just says that alot and then opens up paint... some programs i can't open..... help me T.T

The files are corrupt. this most likely a work of a virus.

get an updated antivirus and scan in safe mode.

if not working try upgrade formating (Not new formating) with your windows xp CD to place lost files in place. in upgrade your files wont be deleted.

well i dont know wats the probelm but u could always jsut try system restore
