Question:
Missing Drivers, need updates.?

I have a four year old custom built computer that I reformatted recently. I have it back up and windows (XP) registered but I'm missing several drivers. under control panel, system, then the hardware tab, then finally device manager. In device manager, under the "other devices" with a yellow '?' are listed several drivers that I need:

Multimedia Audio Controller
Other PCI Bridge Device
PCI Memory Controller
SM Bus Controller
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

Problem is I can't find them on the internet. I cannot connect to the internet since i need a network driver, so i'm using a laptop. I type the drivers into Google search and cannot find anything conclusive, all i need is to find the drivers that i need to download. so if someone could put in a link for me that'd be awesome. Thanks, I haven't been able to get any help on this from family or friends so far

GO TO

the computer manufacturers website,

All the drivers you need will be there available for download.

either put them on a CD to keep them for future use.

or a flash drive if you do not think you will ever need them again.

You do not mention the make or model number

of your computer,

so i can not direct you to where they are.

step 1:

download cpuz - its free and will give you your motherboard model.

google it and the driver you need. (get the network one first is suppose!) Its helpful to make sure you goto your manufacturer website - other sites are usually loaded with misleading links etc. Look at the link in google before clicking it - IE MSI will be support.msi.com or something, gigabyte will be gigabyte.com

U should manage from there.

:)

Option 2 is to download a driver pack for your OS, it contains thousands of driver and windows can search it for all your unknown devices. Emulate it with daemon tools.

As Paul says.

If you manage to find and install the drivers make a driver disc, then you`re ready for next time you format and reinstall.

I normally use drivermax free version to do this.

Click on backup drivers.

Click on next.

Click on select all.

Click on next.

Click on open extraction folder.

Highlight all the drivers.

Right click and send to cd/dvd drive.

To reinstall the drivers, put your driver disc in the drive, go into device manager - click on any drivers with a ? or ! next to them - click reinstall - don`t let it search internet - choose to install from computer - choose your cd drive.

It depends on what controller you are using. Are you using your motherboard's ethernet controller? You need the Drivers from the motherboard installation disc (one comes with EVERY motherboard). The Video Controller depends on what make video card you have installed. Same as Multimedia Audio Controller. If you are using the audio on the motherboard itself then that will be on the motherboard installation disc too.

You need to pop open the case and look at the brand and model number of the motherboard. Then you need to go to the Manufacture's website and download the drivers.
