all of my .exe programs are opening with notepad how do i change this?

All of my programs (like Google chrome, Skype, windows media play etc) have been opening as notepad and its very frustrating when i need to go on to a website it takes me a couple minutes just to open google chrome and when i feel like watching movies i cant because of the annoying notepad. Please help me i have things to do that i cant.

In Window 7, go to Start menu, choose Default Programs on the right side list, then you could set up your programs as default in here
