Hi! I am a new user to microsoft access and I imported excel data into an access database. There was an error with some data where the tabel read: Error Type Conversion Failure, Field F13, Row 17. I would like to know if someone could point out where the error's location is? I have gone through the spreadsheet and database and cannot locate it.

Most computer errors are born in a part of your system which hardly anyone knows or understands - the registry. This is the central database of Windows, which actually stores some of your computer's most important files and settings. Everything from your latest emails to your desktop wallpaper are kept in this database, making it one of the most used parts of the Windows system.Because it's used so much, the registry database is actually prone to becoming corrupt and damaged, which makes Windows struggle to read the files inside it. Unfortunately, 100's of registry files are corrupted every week and Windows has no way to protect against it - it's this problem which causes most of your computer's errors. The problem is that when these files are corrupted, your PC actually takes longer to read them and often can't read them at all. This causes errors on your PC which seem to appear randomly. You can use a Registry cleaner. http://cleanup-comuter-run-perfectly.com

Registry cleaners are tools which have been created to scan through the registry. They work by scanning each file and then checking to see if it's corrupt or causing problems. If they find that it is broken, the registry cleaner will replace or fix the file for you to make your computer speed up and become free of errors. You should have a try! Good Luck!

Your best bet at locating the problem is checking your access fields for types. If you're importing a spreadsheet full of phone numbers into an Access database set up with all fields as integers, you're going to run into serious problems. So look for oddball data, and change your Access field data types accordingly.

Another good place to start is Row 17 in your spreadsheet. That's likely where things started going wrong.

There are 3 things to make sure you are doing right. First, the first row of your spreadsheet should contain text that will be the field names when imported into Access. Make sure that all the fields have names. Second, make sure that all the data in any one column of the spreadsheet (except the field name) has the same format. Third, when importing the data, there is at one step a checkbox that says 'first row contains field names' or similar. Make sure that you check this box. These are the commonest things that case errors.

The field type is not matching with the data in Row 17. Please check the row 17 of your excel file and data type of each column of it. The data type should match with the field type of access table.
