DVD-iPod compatible converter software?

Question

I just got the new iPod Nano for Christmas. I want to put some movies that I have on DVD onto my iPod but I heard that you can't make a DVD iPod-compatible unless you have the right software. I was wondering what the easiest, most reliable, and least expensive software out there is. Are there any that will do an entire movie for free? I downloaded a free version but it only did 5 minutes of the movie. I have a ton of DVDs that I don't want to have to buy on iTunes for $15. Thanks!

You need to convert your DVD and video to mp4 video, then you can add it to your iTunes library, plug in your iPod to computer and sync your iPod with iTunes, that's all. If you need detailed info, here is a step by step guide for you, it's easy to understand and works pretty well for me

handbrake - rip the DVD to H.264 then import the converted file to iTunes> select it and choose the " convert for iPod/iPhone" option then sync when done

I have used E.M. Free DVD copy recently, I ripped the DVD to ipod easily, the video quality is excellent, and it can lets me rip dvd to other popular formats. such as h264, Xvid, MOV, VOB, Mpeg, Mpeg4, Mpeg TS, AVI, WMV. so, I can play the video on most portable player. you can also copy dvd to hard drive or burn the DVD to another blank dvd disc.
