As usual this new version of Windows have nothing new to say, but a new cpu\gpu\ram-killing interface and some up-to-date tools such as IE or WMP ...

Seeing as how they sold over 5 MILLION licenses the first two days it was out, I don't see how you can call it a failure.

If nobody bought it, then it would be a failure. That's not happening. You may not think it's a huge step forward in operating systems, but that doesn't make it a failure.

I think it's too soon to pass judgment - but based on past experience, I am certainly not going to jump on the bandwagon for a while. Usually, Microsoft releases a product - the public become the beta-testers and find the problems. The problems get fixed, and 18 months later, it's usually safe.

This one also can require some hardware upgrade as well - I might just wait until I need a new machine and get it all as a package. It will be interesting to read the reviews as they come in.

I dont really think it is a total failure, but it came to early, I dont like the specs it demand. If you have a 1 year old PC you can probabaly not use it. ,,especially when you think regarding DX10 which the aero desktop is using,, because there is only 2 videocards out there that utilize DX 10 and they are expensive(nvidia 8800 GTS and GTX). Look at the latest issue of maximum pc and you know what I mean. I think you should wait 7 months when it matures and when the specs arent to hefty in price to purshase and when games that use DX10 is out, right now games runs sluggish and many softwares especially security softwares arent compadible withy vista. Also the totally useles DRM that prevents you to listen to MP3 and WMA and so on unless it is digitally signed..Right now you dont need it and it is useless at this point.

i talked to a guy at the local computer store, the day vista was rolled out, and they aren't selling any computers with windows xp on them at that store anymore, every computer in the store is windows vista or media center edition.

he also told me the sales of computers the week before was record breaking over double any other week in the history of the store, this was because people wanted to get a computer that already had the bugs worked out and didn't want to get caught up in another fiasco like when Microsoft released that flop windows millennium.

so in short id say wait for the updates, i tried it a couple months ago it sucked then, and its going to continue to suck for many years or until the hardware is four times as fast as it is now .

I try it before on evaluation version I think they just want to interface getting looks like the MAC but the resalt I don’t think so ...lots of bug and you have to pay to get upgrade for lots of programs to work with that.

It’s just marketing for them to get richer

From what I've seen, it looks like they just added a lot of pretty ribbons & bows to the package to make 'look' pretty, but it doesn't really add anything to the user-ability of the package as a whole. (Basically, they just added a new coat of paint to an old car and are trying to pass it of as 'new and improved.')
