Self explanatory.

You should not delete your Program Files (x86) folder because even though your Windows architecture says 64 bits, Windows still has some required components that live in that folder, also not all software that you download/install in your computer is going to be 64 Bit so you are going to have a mixture of 64 bit and 32 bit software on your computer installed and you are going to need that folder.

No, my friend. (Thumbs up, Equality 7-2521 for your explanation.)

Many 32-bit programs still need to be installed into Program Files (x86).

I get asked this question probably about 2x a year and at least 1 of the people asking refuses to listen. The answer is no.

Don't take my word for it? Read this discussion:

Programs need to be uninstalled because there are additional files that are left behind if you delete the program file.

From the Control Panel, you can uninstall software, but as I already pointed out, if you merely delete the file, you'll leave a LOT of stuff behind, such as DLL files and hidden files, but especially in the Registry file.

No. That is where older 32-bit programs are placed, which still run on 64-bit systems. Not everyone converted their apps, even Microsoft still has some that operate in 32-bit mode.

Technically, I'm sure you COULD (i.e. Windows will probably let you), but I wouldn't recommend it, because there's a lot of important stuff in there.

Of course not, it's a system directory. But hey, go ahead and see what happens.
