Is there any virtual desktop software that can give me more desktop space for icons and shortcuts and the like, kind of like 360desktop just I would prefer if it gave you multiple desktops to work with and not just a huge one. Thank You.

Desktops 1.02 maybe, I know it allows you to make changes to one desktop w/o affecting the others.

If you just have too many icons on your desktop, yuou can download a program called 'Fences' from CNET.com. It makes organizing and clearing your desktop a breeze.

You can do it yourself too, just right-click the desktop (not an icon), click 'new' and choose 'Folder'.

Then name the Folder, let's say 'Games', and drag all your desktop 'game' icons to that new folder.

Let's say you have 3 Maintenance icons (like CCleaner, Microsoft Security Essentials, and Defragment), just create a new folder called 'Maintenance', Security', or whatever you like, and drag the 3 icons to that new folder.

PS: I pin all my browser shortcuts to the Taskbar to save space on the desktop also (Right-click the icon and choose 'Pin to Taskbar'), then delete the Desktop icon.

well... most window managers and desktop environments DO give multiple workspaces. Then the questions remain how do you use information? What info needs to remain visible? Are you equipped with easy keystrokes to switch apps, screens, etc.

Please tell us what usability issues you have faced.

There is one called VirtuaWin that works a treat. You can download it from sourceforge. virtuawin.sourceforge.net/
