I have to use the term CO2 all the time in my work. However the 2 should be a small one and lower... in other words Subscript. It is easy to do manually as you go - but a pain.

Is there any way of doing it automatically as you type, or anyway of making the use of the subscript 2 easier? In any one document I may use it 30-40 times and going back and changing manually is a nightmare!

You can add it to the AutoCorrect option. Type a sentence with CO2 in the middle of it. (It needs to have normal text following it to prepare this AutoCorrect, otherwise all text you type after it corrects itself will remain subscript.)

Select the 2 and format it as Subscript. Select the formatted CO2 and click on the Tools menu and choose AutoCorrect.

Half way down you will see Replace with; Plain Text, Formatted Text. Click on Formatted Text.

In the small box under Replace, type CO2

Click Add and then click OK.

Now when you type CO2 it will automatically subscript the 2

I can't think of a way of automating it but you can make it easier:

Right-click on one of the toolbars, select Customise, select Formatting on the Commends tab, click and drag the subscript button onto your formatting toolbar.

You can now type CO sub 2 sub or, for existing examples of CO2, highlight the '2' and click the sub button.

i replaced into waiting to do it. For the 2d subscript, i'd use a subscript font in a textual content field. With the textual content field, get rid of the borders and make the field clear. Then flow the field with the subscript 2 below the n. to position both perfect, play with the centering icon and the margins in the textual content field putting.
