Ok, I have a Dell Computer and Windows XP I think. Under Start and Microsoft Office, these programs will come up: Microsoft office Access, Microsoft office Excel, Microsoft office InfoPath, Microsoft office Outlook, Microsoft office Powerpoint, Microsoft office Publisher and Microsoft office word. These are all 2003. They all work except Microsoft office Excel.

I click on Microsoft Office Excel and it says "Preparing to install" it will stop and this message will come up, "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." Below that is says, "Click OK to try again or enter a alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'PRO11.MSI' in the box below.

Whats in the box below? 'E:\Office2003\Program\' and 'Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003' that. There is also a browse button. Under the browse I can use 'My documents', 'my computer', or 'my network places'

P.s.- neither of the options in the "box below" work. How do I fix this problem?

This usually happens when a file that Excel needs is corrupted.

And it seems that Office was installed from a server location, not from a disc.

Is this a work computer (meaning assigned to you by your place of employment)? If so, call the tech guy(s) and they can fix it.

If it's a personal computer, get your Office installation disc and re-install Excel. The disc usually has a "repair" option when it opens the installation section.

a sensitive file needed to make excel run was lost. probably it was deleted.

you have to reinstall microsoft office, or if u have a single installer for ms excel, then that should work.
