this happens when the system load on memory is too high, if you are not playing a game that can push your pc's limits, then it can be a virus sucking your memory.

If a computer running Windows requires more memory/RAM then there is installed in the system to run a program, etc, it uses a small section of the hard drive for this purpose. This is called “Virtual” memory, or “Swap Filling”. If the “Swap” file is to small, then you will get a warning that the system can’t perform the operation that you have requested because sufficient “Virtual” memory isn’t available.

You need to enlarge the size of your “virtual memory/swap file”. So, do the following.

Right click “My Computer” and choose “Properties”.

In the “System Properties” window, click the “Advanced” tab.

Under “Performance”, click “Settings”.

In the “Performance Options” window, click “Advanced”.

Under “Virtual memory”, click “Change”.

Increase the size of the “Paging file” so that it is at least twice the size of your RAM. You can increase the size to “Maximum”, it won’t hurt your system at all.

Best cure.

If you really want to eliminate this problem, all you need do is to install more “Memory/RAM”.

Go to Control Panel > System > (or right click on My Computer > Properties) Advanced > Performance [Settings] > Advanced (again!) > If you check on system managed size (default,) Windows will manage the Virtual Memory (Page File) for you! "A page file is an area on the hard disk that Windows uses as if it were ram." Sometimes the "low virtual memory" message comes up because your hard drive is full or needs defragmenting. §§

In WinXP, right click My Computer, and select Properties. Go to the Advanced tab, and under Performance, click Settings. At there, click the Advanced tab. There, you will find one option at the bottom to change your virtual memory. Select Change and increase it.

Just select 'custom' setting

then put 'minimum' at 250

then put 'maximum' at 500

click 'set' & 'OK' your way out

WORKED FOR ME ;)

I got that kind of message with my previous pc too. But after I upgrade my RAM to 1gb, its gone. Currently im using 2gb RAM in all 4 slot of my mboard :-)

It might be your preset space for virtual memory too minimum. Try change it to maximum. Try get higher RAM.

Good luck!

You are running too many programs at once. Try upgrading your ram. Crucial.com is great because just give them your computer name and model number and they can tell you how many sticks to buy and what kind. If you don't want to buy from them, just use that information to buy from another store like circuity city or something.

Also try opening up msconfig (click start>run or hold down the windows key+r and type msconfig, then click the startup tab and disable anything you dont want... starting up!)
