The extending life to your computer for 8 years is BS..

It depends on the wear and tear of what you do to the computer.

Yes, Windows 7 will be a little bit faster and its more reliable operating system but also you have to tell us your computer specs and we can help you make the best decision.

Windows Vista was a definite disaster. In Microsoft’s entire history, the only other OS comparable to Windows Vista is Windows Me. Despite its eye candy, Vista failed miserably in enticing users. Users have had issues and issues with it. And many have reverted back to Windows Xp. So, how reliable is Microsoft’s next offering–Windows 7?

Ever since Windows 7 was announced, users have shown a positive attitude towards Windows 7. The various beta releases that were available to users have received a positive response. Windows 7 is much more stable and also features a clutter free user-interface.

That said, how reliable is Windows 7? Is it the OS that individuals and businesses can rely on?

The answer is a resounding yes! Even the earliest of the beta versions of Windows 7 were very stable. The beta versions were as stable as Windows Xp and Windows Vista themselves. It seems that Microsoft has finally succeeded in putting its experience in creating all the previous versions of Windows into Windows 7. Microsoft has been insisting on OS stability as a crucial parameter in the development of Windows 7.

The RTM build of Windows 7 is definitely without major flaws. Users report that after thousands of hours of running the RTM version, they have encountered only a handful of shutdown issues and a few other problems with third-party software applications. Software compatibility problems will always persist and it depends on both Microsoft and the software-makers as to how they resolve these issues.

To conclude, Windows 7 is a solid and robust OS. Probably, Windows 7 is one of the best OSes that Microsoft has been able to develop after Windows 2000. It will definitely be a turning point in the company’s history.

extending the life of hte system is BS.

extending official OS/software support is true. if you're gonna keep your system for that long. its really not a big deal, many people still use XP despite official support ended a while back.

Windows 7 is way better than Vista. Vista is a great idea poorly executed. it mismanaged system resources and hogs memory, cpu time. 7 is a totally revamped windows.

however 7 is also very foreign compared to previous windows releases like vista, xp, 2000, me, 98 and 95. it lacks many of the features of previous systems, many that people like me has gotten used to having. 7 looks too different and the layout is too different, I don't like 7 unless it can look like vista.

despite differences in GUI windows 7 is really much better than vista, especially for regular users that just need a working system, and their computer doesn't have a abundance of resources for vista to mismanage and waste.
