Question:
TAPE-MP3 Software Query!?

I recently purchased a TtoMP3 (Tape to MP3) device from Aspect-Two but found, on attempting to install the software (cassette-mate) onto my Windows 7 running TOSHIBA Satellite Pro laptop that the on-screen operating panel is missing most of the right hand side, meaning that some of the operating buttons are not visible.
I contacted them and was advised to download "audacity" software, but find that operation with that, very complicated.
I originally purchased the device as I have a large number of audio cassettes and would like to transfer them to CD.
The sales publicity stated that conversion from cassette to MP3 was very simple, but such is not the case!
Can anyone assist, please?
I did manage to install the cassett-emate software into my ten year old XP running desktop PC, but results were garbled, so assume that my sound card could not cope.

I would download the latest version of cassette-mate from here

http://www.amoimagestore.co.uk/aspect2/cassettemate.zip

I have just installed it most of the captions are in japanese but it should work.

Alternatively try running the cassette-mate software in XP compatibility mode

right click on the shortcut on the desktop and find the executable (.exe) file that runs the program, right click on that, properties and compatibility and choose XP mode

Yes, ray_8128 has basically given a complete rundown of the things you need. So other than the apppropriate cables, you do not need to purchase anything. 1) The simplest way is to connect a cable from the phone jack on the cassette tape player/walkman to the line-in jack on the sound card (you will need the Y-cord if there are separate R and L audio out on the cassette player ). 2) Remember to go to Control Panel/Sound and Audio Devices/Audio, check the volume settings of both Sound Playback and Sound Recording tabs are as required - you need line-in. 3) Use freeware Audacity (the sound recorder tool in Windows has recording limit) to record while your cassette plays. 4) The Lame MP3 encoder is required to work with Audacity if you want mp3 files. 5) For simplicity, I use the Burn tool in Microsoft Media Player 11 to create the audio cd. You will of course, need a CD or DVD writer. If you have a fairly recent cd/dvd player that can read CDR and play MP3/WMA files, then it is even simpler. You can skip this step and just transfer the audio files (in mp3 or WMA formats) over to the cd. 6) Experiment, since the audio quality will differ depending on the hardware and software you use. 7) The other thing, turn off unrequired programs like antivirus, screen saver, etc for a smooth and uninterrupted recordings.
