Microsoft are now trying force computer manufactures into using their Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) boot protocol, This means if they want to install a OEM version of windows 8 they will have to agree to Microsoft terms of agreement, and install their Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) boot protocol, which in plain English means Microsoft will control everything you do,

You will not be able to install any other software that is not digitally signed by Microsoft, Any other Free operating system or software like Open Office Libre Office. Other web browsers, will not be allowed to be installed, and you won't be able to jail break the system because it will be embedded in the hardware,

This will mean Microsoft will have full and total control over Computer Manufactures, Software Developers of games and other software, and windows 8 computer users,

DO YOU WANT THIS TO HAPPEN?

its bordering on a wanabe dictatorship removing freedom of choice,

although, as i understand it, the manufacturers have a choice to add a switch that can turn UEFI off,

but i believe that if they choose to add the switch then microsoft will drop them from distribution,

but guess what, all the sheep will follow microsoft and windows

why ? because windows is easy and lame and supports that life essential process called games

i choose freedom

Hi Carling

You know what this really means they really have lost the plot.

when the ordinary person finds they will have to have the office package will find more moving away from the tied products to the free world.

the cost will become prohibitive with the operating system cost and the office cost and as you say any other product having to be Microsoft Compliant it could be the beginning of the end of the massive profits they have enjoyed in the past.

recently i purchased an anti-virus software package that simply will not work without the internet explorer.well needless to say the retailer had it back a bit quick, there website refused point blank to accept no other product so they will die as a result.

So i see this as a nail in the coffin of this over bearing giant

so who is going to loose a lot of business over this they are the idiots especially with the mean types who seem to be the ones who buy the operating system because it is on the laptop when they buy it and then when they try to load the open office is fails then they find this product is not going to have the cheap software they will then realise what we have been saying for years there is an alternative answer.
