I was opening a file that had a ".lnk" extension and it asked me what I wanted to open that file with. I clicked on the file I wanted, and forgot to uncheck the box that said, "Always use to open this file type". Anyways, what is the default program for .lnk file???

What version Windows?

There are fixes for file associations but they are different for different versions of Windows. These are for Vista. You would use the fix for lnk

the page also has a link to Windows 7 fixes

for xp

The fixes restore Windows default settings for opening a particular file type.
