I'm trying to do some number formatting in excel and can't figure out how to do this. I want to convert single digit numbers to double digit numbers. So for example I want to convert the number "7" to "07," "007," or even "0007." Obviously you can do this easily for one or two numbers by hand, but I need to convert 1479 of these. Does anyone know a way to make this formatting happen?

Select all the cells containing the numbers you want to format.

Right-click and select "format cells"

In the first tab 'Numbers' select 'custom'.

In the box at the top left type 00 or 000 or 0000

Then click OK etc.

Now all those cells will show 1 as 01 or 001 or 0001

If you want decimal places you should enter 00.00 or 000.0 or 000000000.0000 or whatever
