I'm running Windows Vista. After a few days I started to have a problem with my Internet Explorer. If I have a window open (or a few) and I close one window (or just one) I get a message which says: Internet Explorer has stopped working.
The problem details state: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: iexplore.exe Application Version: 7.0.6000.16386 Application Timestamp: 4549b133 Fault Module Name: StackHash_8d13 Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 00000000 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 02fb0bcc OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.2 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 8d13 Additional Information 2: cdca9b1d21d12b77d84f02df48e34311 Additional Information 3: 8d13 Additional Information 4: cdca9b1d21d12b77d84f02df48e34311
What is wrong and how can i fix it? I downloaded Firefox now and it works fine, except that I can not copy from one window and paste (like in an email per example) in another. Why? What to do?

here is how you do it:

1) Go to the Control Panel, and then go into the Internet Options. For those of you that don't know, you can quickly get to the Internet Options by click on "Classic View" on the left or clicking on the Network and Internet link in near the middle of the window on the left side.

After you go into Internet Options, go to the Security TAB and un-check the box that says "Enable Protected Mode". After you disable the Enable Protected Mode, simply click APPLY and OK. After you close out and open up Internet Explorer again. You will find that everything works again. If a little yellow bar comes up under the address bar annoying you about Protected Mode being turned off, just click it and select the option that doesn't notify you about anymore.

2) This other option didn't work for me but it might work for some of you. You can also go into Internet Options in the same place as Step 1, but instead of the Security TAB, you go to the Advanced TAB and scroll down to where it has the options for phishing. Just disable the phishing option or address filtering protection thingy and then click APPLY and OK.

It's crazy that we still have Microsoft Internet Explorer problems this bad on version 7 but you can consider this a sign and go Firefox like I have. Goodluck!

Run Internet Explorer with no add-ons installed

Start - All Programs -Accessories -Systems Tools - Click on “Run Internet Explorer (no add-ons)” If IE runs OK you have one or more bad add-ons.

In IE tools - Programs - Click on “Manage Add-ons”. Disable all add-ons then restart. Enable one add-on and restart. If ok enable another ad-on. Repeat until you find the add-on(s) that are causing the problem.

If the above does not work

IE7 is integral with Vista; you can not remove it. You also can not download IE7 and install it.

Start> Run> enter "sfc.exe /scannow" in the run box.

Run. You will need the Windows Vista disk. This utility will check all system files against the disk and repair if needed.

System File Checker (sfc.exe)

You could try deleting IE and redownloading IE7 from download.microsoft.com. It's unusual that you can't copy and paste in FireFox, I can do it just fine, I'm also still running XP, and I don't plan on upgrading to Vista for awhile, too many program conflicts for me and what I do right now. There may be a bug in your IE7, and a fresh install may be the trick. Vista's full of quirks that they need to fix...

Try removing Internet Explorer, then re-downloading it. It is entirely possible that an error occured while your IE was downloading. Though if that doesn't work, try deleting all Temp. Internet Files & Cookies etc. (everything). Then re-download it once again. Its also possible your internet storage is full.

PS: To copy, hold control (ctrl) and press the letter C on your keyboard. To paste, hold control (ctrl) and press the letter P on your keyboard.

After doing some googling for you it appears to be a bug between IE 7 and Vista.

I would continue using FF.
