maybe it's just how you feel. i don't think your computer is slow with the specs you give. or your infected with an unknown virus.

You have too much stuff running at once. 90% of all anti-spyware, anti- virus, firewalls, etc. take up a massive amount of your computer's resources, in some cases (Norton I think) it can be up to 60%. You're being OVERLY safe with all those programs and precautions. Unless you have a ton of people using your computer unsupervised you really don't need much of anything but a firewall. Also, how full is your hard drive? after about 60-75% full your computer will generally slow down drastically. Any other questions hit me up on messenger, I'll be on for a few hours.

Besides hardware, There may be two reasons why your PC is running slow.

1. Your PC has tons of junk files and you havn't cleant up your PC for a long time.

2. You have got a virus or spyware on your PC.

You may search http://answers.yahoo.com for answers

I suggest you to run a virus test firstly with your virus scanner:(if you don't have virus killer, you may try Bitdefender, it is the best:

1. Firstly, update your virus scanner database

2. Then run the scanner and check whether you have virus on your PC.

When you find viruses, Kill them!

3.Then Restart your Computer.

Now you'll find your PC is faster than before,

If not.

You may definetly need to clean up your PC.

Here is instructions about how to clean your PC: http://www.wikihow.com/Clean-Your-Comput...

1. Download a nice PC cleaner from http://www.pc-registry-repair.cc

(System cleaner is a best choice)

2. Run the cleaner and clean up your PC.

3. Restart your PC

You have Vista, right?

The same thing happened to me and I had to blow my HD away to get it running right again.

I just keep a copy of a good image now so I can do it quickly (I use Ghost)

It seems like whenever you use Vista for a few months it just bogs.

Oh, and did the same as you and ran every utility I could find including registry scanners and compressers.

I think it is caused by all of the applications I've tested over time and discarded (uninstalled)

Just be cause you have a an anit-virus or spy-ware doesn't mean that all the viruses will be detected. also if its a new computer you might be running too many processes.. go into your task manager and see how many your running. for your system (similar to mine) i usually run about 50-60. Also how many unnecessary programs are installed? remove everything you don't use. i mean everything. if you need something in the future it wont be that hard to get. also its advised to overclock your graphics card. you have to know what your doing for that. If worse comes to worse back-up everything you need on your computer and reformat!!!!!!

i referred you to a site for some basic stuff. and if your gonna reformat just google it...youll need your windows disk for that.

You left out the important part:

Is it slow loading programs from disk?

Is it slow running programs once they've been loaded?

Is it slow downloading files?

You tell the doctor that someone in your family has a pain and ask how to stop it. Anything from there is sheer guesswork.

Well in nearly all groups, your web is actually plugged into a few field on or close your avenue. When every body plugged into that field attempt to max out their web connections you may also revel in a few slower web. As to your pc, it does have some thing to do with it. Your internet browser has to load, and your pc runs it. Viruses too can sluggish down your pc and take in plenty of your web connection, making it seem sluggish

Try adding another spy ware program to the mix. They do not find all of the spyware. (Thy ad-aware it is free). Also go and check your system it may not be reading all of the memory.

Check event viewer to see if you have any disk errors or something similar. A lot of times it is pretty obvious what is going on by looking there.

you didnt give your operating system if its windows check your msconfig in (RUN...) and then startup programs, you may be just starting your comp with too many programs running.
