Im having trouble installing 'Windowblinds'
it's downloaded, and fully working, however when it reeaches
95% complete, it says

'windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. you may not have the appropriate perpissions to access the item'

at the top of the window, it says
C:\ WINDOWS\system32\calcs.exe

then it says 'cannot execute the file' or something like that

I have full Administrative access [it is mine, brand new]
and ive checked what it says at the top of the screen, it links to a calculator.
thanks in advance, julian

*10 points for whoever helps best*

before doing anything...delete the downloaded setup file (could be corrupted), restart the computer, and download windows blinds again. Try running setup again.

Calcs.exe does not refer to a calculator but instead is a program that displays or changes access control on files. If setup is having a problem accessing calcs.exe, that would mean that you most likely do not have sufficient rights to do so. Double check to make sure you are logged on as administrator to the machine because if you are not that is likely the problem.

You reckon its C:\ WINDOWS\system32\calcs.exe

and not

C:\ WINDOWS\system32\cacls.exe

note the change in spelling cALCs and aACLs.

This would mean the ACLs (Access Control Lists are not permitting it.)

Check the ACLs and fix it. Then it might work.

If your using Vista...

If Vista ever gives you a hard time "saying you need administrative rights"

to do a download or make changes (Even tho you are the system

administrator) then do the following...

Go to START...CONTROL PANEL.....USERS ACCOUNTS...and turn off the UAC (User

Accounts Control)...windows will want to reboot...make any changes you

need...then go turn the UAC back on...system will want to reboot again.

in this case, you have to check a numbers of things like your cd drive and your os is it compatible, cause such a kind of installing most slightly will be the software can't be use or your win cannot be installed. or even worse you might need to change your cd drive to test out .

Hi,

Did you installed it in its default location or did you change the installation path?

Try to install in its default location if you changed that.

Any errors recorderd in the event-log?
