I have created an image backup my computer's hard disk with Windows 7 ultimate on it, using trinity rescue kit. Now can i use that image to restore the image file to my friend's laptop, using trinity rescue kit? I mean overwriting his windows XP home os with the my windows 7 image file? In other words, can i "install" windows 7 on his computer by restoring my computer's image file on his laptop? His laptop hardware supports windows 7. I hope my question is not perplexing. Thank u all the answerers in advance.

Your more than likely will have a major fail. Reasons being.

- Windows 7 will activation will only work on one unless you own another license etc to change it to.

- Hardware differences can prevent a PC from booting when taking images, often its related to a thing call the "HAL". If the motherboard is similar model and the hard drive type is the same e.g. sata you're pretty safe . If your going to attempt it I recommend you downloading all the Windows 7 (32bit/64bit) drivers of your friends computer before re-imaging.

Wouldn't hurt to copy his/her XP to an image to restore if it fails.

It's as zoomjet says, and even if you did. If it booted all the way up it will say that the license key is already in use by another computer and will then go into reduced functionality mode. After a while the only thing you'll be able to do is open up Internet Explorer so that it can tell you how bad stealing software is and how to purchase a license.

Uh... reproduction from get carry of region and paste on your portable complicated disk out of your document browser? does not get a lot extra straightforward than that, except i'm fake impact the question. in case you're burning some thing, it fairly is in all likelihood a *disc* photograph. confident, there's a difference between disk and disc. in case you basically could get admission to the records on your computer, you are able to mount a disc photograph with a digital tension from Daemon kit. it fairly is loose and saves you a CD. :)
