I recently had to completely reinstall windows- my hard drive was corrupt. So I have a brand new hard drive, and replacement disks that Dell sent me for my original computer. I installed all of the drivers that came on the replacement disk as well. However, I notice that for my mouse cursor, the hourglass icon that sometimes shows when the computer is "thinking" never goes away- it constantly flashes next to my cursor. And my Internet Explorer is updated to the latest version, and the latest version of Java is installed. About 50% of the time, when I click on a webpage, it says that the page cannot be displayed, and gives me the option to diagnose the connection. Two things always happen- it either says there were no problems detected, or that it could not finish the diagnosis because an error was detected. Either way, after I do a refresh no matter what the message from the diagnosis, the page will display properly, at least for a little while. And sometimes the page will freeze loading, so it just goes to a white screen with the little bars on the bottom of the page showing that it's trying to load, although it doesn't. In addition, sometimes when I try to run the "diagnose problem", the page will load itself properly. I am completely baffled. I don't have any viruses on my computer, but the problem is accelerating. Any help is greatly appreciated!!! This is driving me nuts. My computer also tells me that I don't have the latest version of Java installed sometimes, although I've redownloaded it many times to make sure.

I had this same problem although in a different way. I had to get my computer sent to be fixed for viruses and ext. because of corrupt downloads of games. When my computer came back and I reset it my internet kept going haywire and a lot of the times I couldn't connect to it. I believe your problem is your Network, but I can't help unless you specify if you have wireless internet or broadband connection. If you have wireless it be a problem with your modem. May I ask if when you reset your computer if your internet connection changed and if you are able to find other networks? If you are unable to locate other networks than there is a problem with your network and you need to contact your internet administrator/provider for your problem to be solved.

Go to http://firefox.com and download the free Firefox browser. Try using it to access the Internet instead of IE. If you have the same issues, then the problem is probably not with your PC but with your Internet service. You will need to contact your ISP and have them look at the issue.

If Firefox fixes the issues, you can continue to use it instead. It is usually faster, is more secure, gets fewer viruses, and recently passed IE as the most used browser because people like it better. Or you can uninstall and reinstall IE and see if that resolved the issue with IE if you prefer to use it.

Whether you stay with Firefox is your choice, but installing and using it for a day or two is a good way to diagnosis whether the problem is your ISP or your PC.

go down to the task bar at the bottom of your computer and near the volume button should be a small computer sign put your mouse over it and click, it should say wireless networks avaliable, press on that and it should then bring up a page with your hub data on it, press on that and enter you wireless key this should be on the back or underneath your hub, press ok and you should now be connected, anytime you do a restore you have to do this as the computer runs as if it were the first time
