Quicktime is the video player developed by Apple. It is one of the most highly used applications out there. You can use it to play movies and audio files. Most commonly you would probably use it to watch trailers off the Apple web site.

It can be associated with web browsers and other applications. So deleting it or Quicktime files might not be the best thing to do. You can open those quicktime files though, and if they are just movies or audio that you do not want/need, then you can delete them. The application itself won't take up too much space on your computer though.

Yes, it's for movies and I doubt that it's the sole cause of your slow computer. I wouldn't say that it's necessary software, especially if you don't use it and it seems that you do not. I assume that you've scanned for viruses and, since you seem to be struggling with a lag in your computer's operation, have uninstalled other software (hopefully using the uninstallers or add/remove program option in your control panel) - I'd recommend cleaning up your registry and defragmenting your hard drive first before "deleting a buttload of quicktime files." This will rid you of loose bits of random data left over from uninstalls and other functions that simply have no use and are hanging about. Also, depending on the age of the computer, It may simply have just passed the prime of its existence since most machines go obsolete in 3-5 years. Another thing to check would be your RAM and if what you have installed is the max that your machine is capable of handling.

quicktime is a software that allows you to watch movies and listen to music. my suggestion would be that you do not delete quicktime because if you have itunes on your computer it will not work without quicktime.

if your computer is slow, then you can try deleting it and you can always download a new copy for free at the apple website.

hope this helps,

CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. CCleaner also fixes your registry. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware.

well first off... quicktime doesn't slow down your computer and second it comes with your computer when you first get it and it's also not a wise idea to start deleting random quicktime files because that might slow the program down hence slowing your computer down....

"QuickTime is a multimedia framework developed by Apple Inc., capable of handling various formats of digital video, media clips, sound, text, animation, music, and interactive panoramic images." basically it is a video player made by Apple. It is completely useless, and can be deleted without fear of harming your computer.
