Question:
How to open MS Excels with separate toolbar windows?

I often need to compare excel files side by side, and cannot figure out how to open them in separate windows. Typically if you double click on several files they all open under the same tool bar and controls unlike MS Word files. Is there some simple way of right-clicking to open in new window or something?

Try this:

In Excel versions prior to Excel 2007:

1. Click the Tools->Options menu item.

2. Click the View tab.

3. Check the Windows in Task Bar checkbox.

4. Click OK.

In Excel 2007:

1. Click the round Office button in the upper-left corner of the windows.

2. Click the Excel Options button.

3. Click Advanced.

4. In the Display section, check the Display All Windows On The Taskbar checkbox.

5. Click OK.

Note that this may also affect other applications that often have multiple documents open, such as Word and Internet Explorer.

Hope that helps.

i am not sure exactly what you mean, the only way i know of opening files in two separate windows is by opening up Microsoft Excel in two windows, double click the icon twice to get it open twice, then open the files you are looking for through file open.
