Im using it right now. I built my own computer and its powerful so I dont notice Vista running slow at all. Its actually quicker with my new computer compared to my old on XP. Vista still has its bugs, as does with many new programs. Im still happy with the purchase because I enjoy some of the features Vista has. The issues with it are minor and Im sure they will all be addressed. Vista is not supposed to have a 'Service Pack' coming out. Everyone thinks that they SHOULD, because the reason most people dont go to Vista is because they hear of bugs, but, they said they arent ever going to make a service pack. Just updates via Windows Update. I also like the fact Vista can use all 4 gigs of my memory. XP doesnt get any use out of 2+ gigs of memory, but, Vista certainly enjoys it. All I hear is 'Vista sucks', 'its too buggy', or 'Im waiting for SP1'....

Quit your crying. Vista is here. If your computer cant handle it, or barely meets requirements, Id stick with XP because you will get annoyed with Vista running slower. If you dont want to get it, good, stick with XP. Just stop whining.

hi

this is shila

windows vista is not so good

if you are using windows xp you are having good operating system ican tell about a software which can transform your xp into vista

main problem is vista is very slow as well as costly so better you use xp

but the theme and desktop management in vista is fantastic

you can visit cnet.com for further information

it costs 319$

The good: Windows Vista Ultimate does improve some features within Windows XP; fewer system crashes than Windows XP; Windows Vista offers better built-in support options.

The bad: Windows Vista Ultimate does not put Search on the desktop (it's buried within applications, within the Start Menu); optimized only for the Microsoft Windows ecosystem (for example, RSS feeds from Internet Explorer 7 get preferential treatment); there's simply too much and not all of it is implemented properly; no new software yet written exclusively for Windows Vista; and there are too many editions of Windows Vista.

The bottom line: Windows Vista is essentially warmed-over Windows XP. If you're currently happy with Windows XP SP2, we see no compelling reason to upgrade. On the other hand, if you need a new computer right now, Windows Vista is stable enough for everyday use.

if you like my answer and want some snapshots of windows vista plz email me

i will be waiting

i can give tips and tricks on computer

Windows Vista may not be my choice for an OS for more then one reasons:

a. It is too new and it still has a lot of unfixed bugs, some of which are known, some still unknown. It takes time to mature a product, and I think Vista has yet to go through that.

b. For the end user, its the AERO 3D which creates the FEEL of the difference from XP, and for that you need a good graphics card, sufficient memory, and a high end processor. All this expense over and above Vista's lisence cost!!!

c. I dont like being asked 'Do you REALLY REALLY want to do this...' a thousand times a day.

d. And last, I would not want an OS for which I dont have an Antivirus software.... No, I don't trust MS on building a Virus proof Operating System, when it took them years to find out what was wrong in their JPEG processing system in XP.

I have and I LOVE it. It was already installed on a brand new laptop (Toshiba A100-036). I have had no issues at all. I love the graphics, the extra security (and you can remove or reduce the annoyance of it asking you if you really want to do something). It has some really cool features: for example, when I hover my mouse over an item in the task bar it shows a mini live version of what's there. If I'm chatting with someone on MSN and they do the BRB thing, I don't have to turn up my volume to see when they come back, I can minimize and just hover my mouse over it and see if they are chatting again. There's also a snipping tool that combines screen capturing and cropping in one tool - I use this almost daily. The help menu is excellent and the Control Panel is easy to use.

I've been in touch with a lot of people who upgraded their computer. They have had issues. Most times it is due to not having enough RAM (need 1 GB minimum or the 3D features don't work) or a compatible video card. This can be easily avoided by running the Update Advisor. Here's the link (it's free): http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/upgradeadvisor.mspx

The other issues are with programs and peripherals (printers, scanners, etc.) not being Vista compatible. Most manufacturer's are catching up quickly and make free upgrades/drivers available but you may want to wait a month or 2 if you have a lot of specialty programs and/or games on your system.

Hope this is informative.

A friend bought a vista ready computer with vista in it. I tried it out and like vista but even his vista ready machine is absolutely not even enough to use it with any advantage over XP.

I most likely will get a new computer in about a yer and will get Vista as it should have the bugs out by then and I can afford to get enough computer to be worth having vista.

What Microsoft recomends is not enoough computer.

If you have a very powerful machine with the latest top of the line graphics you might get away with vista now. You definately will need at minimum two gigabytes of RAM and even more is a help. Double processors and all you can get

Vista. some human beings say Vista makes use of up a lot equipment ram. it really is real. Vista makes use of those ram to velocity up the computer. Thats why there is not a lot loose ram. Xp wastes those loose ram doing not something. Vista is even extra nicely matched than XP than u imagine it really is. Vista hasn't any issue to me for a million 12 months already. Vista is quicker even as starting software and initiating the computer. some human beings evaluate XP because they are too used to XP or they are gamer. it type of feels vista is slower in video games through 2-5 fps. No enormous deal. VISTa!
Never fear, for I is here.......

I have been using Windows Vista on my self built computer for over 2 months now without issue, vista even pointed out to me that I had bought a bad RAM chip.

Stability has been excellent, I have been running about 10 or so programs including Office 2007, adobe reader 8, and Windows media player, including a program called Folding@Home (which uses your processor to do Protein folding for scientific research) without issue for about 4 days straight now.

I also have Windows XP Pro installed and have not switched or gone back to XP except to check for updates.

A little about my system now.

I have a Asus M2n32 SLI deluxe Wireless Motherboard

(drivers on there website are still in beta)

Amd 4200+ FX2

2Gigs of DDR2 ram 800(do not get anything less then this, otherwise it sluggish and slow when opening programs)

X1300 Radeon graphics PCI-e 512MB graphics, Vista loves graphics and will utilize that.

Everything else is pretty stock, have not had any issues with drivers or programs, but I do not play games on mine. I have used Dreamweaver 8, Photoshop CS2, etc.

Oh and one other thing I have Vista Home Premium.

Windows vista is not very similar to the other windows, i am using it now but it took me few days to get used to, the only issue i have with it is that it is slower but it could be that the processor is not fast enough to maintane it, other and i don't really care for it's security program.

already using it...

its slow and has a lot of bugs...

not exactly what was promised in terms of speed etc...

there are bugs in networking, printing options and the machine takes ages to boot...

anyone considering it may want to wait till they release a major update or service pack...
