I have a 11GB file I'm trying to transfer onto my 1TB external drive but I keep getting this pop-up error that I don't have enough space, but I do, I have over 800GB of free space. What can I do to get my file to transfer?

what file format does you external hard drive have, if it's formatted as fat32 then there's your problem a fat32 formatted drive can only hold a maximum file size of 4GB as you have an 11GB file it just won't go on
I suggest you change the format of the file system to NTFS which will allow a file size upto the size of the drive
to convert it to NTFS won't destroy any data already on the drive but it's a one way trip to go back to fat32 will mean a full format and destruction of data
to convert it if you're running xp although vista will be similar click start >>run type cmd in the open window and click ok to open a command window
in the command window type "help convert" without the quotes and hit enter for instructions on how to convert the file system don't worry it's easy

if you have a pc goto "safe mode" and try to transfer you files.
ViceVersa is a utility which compares, mirrors, synchronizes and backups folder trees. You can choose from three different ways to compare your files: timestamp, CRC or both. Differences will be shown side-by-side, in a graphical, easy to understand manner. ViceVersa compares folders between floppy drives, hard drives, CD-ROM drives, zip drives and network drives (UNC paths supported). It can compare only files and folders that match Include and Exclude filter pattern lists which you define. In addition, the program offers a choice of six synchronization methods, supports Copy and Delete operations for manual synchronization as well as action preview and more. An optional Pro version with even more features is available for a charge.

Make sure your drive isn't formatted as fat32. NTFS is what you want.
