How do I remove a duplicate Personal Folder in Outlook?

I know that I am not supposed to answer my own question, but every answer I found was just too complicated. I found an easier solution for Windows XP.

Close Outlook
Click "Start"
Click "Control Panel" (If you are not in "clasic view" click clasic view in the left hand column)
Click "Mail"
Click on "Data Files"
You should see a window with two Personal Folders listed. One should have "Mail Delivery Location" listed under the Comments column. Delete the Personal Folder with nothing under the comments column. Close all open windows and reopen Outlook. The duplicate Personal Folder should be gone.

This only removes the folder from Outlooks view, and for that matter while in outlook simply right click the Personal folder and select Close "Personal folder" and it will go away. thats a hell of a lot simpler than what you suggested. The problem with either solution is that the folder 's PST file still exist on the drive and may be using up space depoending on whats in it. To delete the actual pst files goto :\documents and settings\%username%\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook and there should be several pst files there, besure you delete the correct one, if you delete the wrong one yoou can trash your whole mailbox.



Always make a back up of something before you delete it just incase. if everthing works out ok , then you can delete the back up , if it goes haywaire, just restoree the back up to its original location.,



And BTW to the poster above me, there is no option to delete on the right click in Outlook, not for a personal folder pst anyway . Simply close.
