It is possible to remove the updates

http://www.phys.unsw.edu.au/~atm/remove_winupd_backup.html

But I wouldn't recommend it, you're better off removing programs that you really don't use, or better yet add another hard drive

Open My computer see the free space available now.

1.Try C: properties tools a) disk clean up

more options b) delete Old system restore files

this will delete all except last one.

2. Download DiskSweeperFree2 from

http://www.craveworldwide.com/disksweep.zip

select the three options at bottom left also.

( zero byte/ignore hidden files/ignore system files)

3. usual ccleaner from http://www.filehippo.com

4. Now the registry ( redundant entries)

A safe program Wise registry cleaner form

http://www.wisecleaner.com

delete only green marked entries.

para two: You can safely delete/copy the folders from $NTuninstallKBxxxxxx from C:/Windows.

I have ( about 500MB )deleted them , long back.

Para three : I would like to copy/transfer the files in C:/Windows/$hf_mig$ to save disk space.which contains all the updates. already copied to system/system32/Dll cache ( protected system folder do not tamper ), and IE etc.. ( only shows 370MB can wait !). Very useful to update if you reinstall XP. Make a CD copy.

How much disk space saved around 2 GB ?

Para four: C: directory should have 50% free space for faster operation. Remove unused Program files/ ( other than Microsoft based like office etc )video/audio files etc to another Directory or CD.

Finally C:/ Properties/tools check disk and defragment.

I had this some months in the past, and it appeared to be led to with the help of an computerized replace that domicile windows put in. when you reinstalled the working equipment, did you enable computerized Updates? i desire to advise which you disable the completely computerized replace, and set it (in initiate / administration Panel / computerized Updates) to "Notify me yet do no longer quickly acquire..." That way you may administration the updates that get put in. you will ought to place in the SP2 improve if that is not any longer already area of your XP, yet evade something - i've got faith that between the "KB..." updates (i do no longer understand which between the handfuls) locks up the equipment restoration factors. It says mutually as that is installation that "...as quickly as this replace is put in it won't be able to be bumped off", even nevertheless it does not permit you already know that as a result the equipment restoration won't artwork the two! you won't be able to get returned previous that evaluate time! it particularly is my wager, besides - I reinstalled XP, further SP2, and now I basically enable the month-to-month Malicious application removing gadget - I overlook approximately each and every of something. ought to deploy the XP improve SP2?

You can by going to Add/Remove Programs via Control Panel and put a check mark at the top in the box next to Show Updates.

I wouldn't advise you to do this though as it could cause instability or incompatibility problems.

Use CCleaner to try and remove unwanted stuff instead.

Yes, it can cause problems such as system/program instability if they are removed and make you vulnerable to malware. Often these updates are patches on top of patches and removal of one will affect the others.

You can definately remove these updates but its not recommended. Instead remove all those programs that you are not using.
