Whenever I open it I find that almost a third of the lower portion of the monitor screen is covered by gray color with the words "menu item" in two places in red.
Can someone please tell me how I can get rid of this and ensure that browser opens out on the full monitor screen.Unistalling and re-installing has not helped.

do you have add-ons installed? if so disable all and see if this fixes the problem. if it does, enable one by one until you find the culprit.

Alternately the beta 2 version of firefox is available. Its a portable version so doesn't need an install. You just unzip it and run it from its folder. This will solve the problem.

You didn't say what computer system? You didn't say how you uninstall it? Add and remove doesn't always get rid of the directory that was created. This has to be deleted also, before reinstalling programs. Some times there are previous files left behind that interfere with the new install.

I have not encountered anything like this and am having a hard time understanding what you mean.

Try adding a theme. Maybe you're firewall is blocking things to properly install the file
