I have some movies in .avi format heaving 700mb of length and 2:15hr of duration. I want to burn these movies in a 4.7 GB of video DVD. So that I can play them on my DVD player. For this purpose, I used a paid software Magic DVD Creator. it has a verity of option to configure the menu adding subtitles, ntsc and pal format and it support verity of video format etc etc etc.
This software first encode the .avi format into MPEG and after encoding allow to burn the encoding DVD folder into video DVD disk and announce that the burned DVD can be playable at both pc and DVD-player
MY QUESTION IS
QUES1> When I insert a 700MB movie in a magic DVD creator. It prompt the message that the “size of file id more than DVD5/DVD9 adjust the quality of movie”
The quality by default is at medium level when I point it at the lower level it stops prompt.
As I heard that 4.7 mb DVD has 120-200 min to play capacity then why I get a message after inserting a 700mb movies of 2:15 min Duration ?
QUES2> I got a video DVD from my cousin that DVD has 6 movies in it and is playable at both my computer and DVD player all the movies in it are in .vob format.
Is it means that if I convert the .avi movies to .vob format then I may able to burn more than one movies in a video DVD disk?

Standard DVD players read the .Vob format, the files you have now are in AVI format..

I would recommend you download ConvertXtoDVD. Ive been using it, it works just great.

It will automatically convert to DVD format, readable by all standard dvd players, it will then burn automatically to DVD...

it is easy to use, fast and it works perfect for me.. give it a try, you'll love it

1. Download ConvertXtoDVD here:

http://burner-software.com/convertxtodvd/home

It can convert any video file.. like wmv, mkv, mp4, avi to dvd

2. Add or drag-n-drop as many video files as the DVD can handle

3. Insert blank DVD

4. Click "Convert"

5. Enjoy watching those video files on your home DVD player! =)

It has many other nice features too, for example;

you can create your own DVD menu, and add subtitles

I don't know what Kind of DVD player you have at home my friend..

Earlier version of DVD players do not support .avi files..

But later .avi files were supported by DVD players which had DIVX codec..

when u write a movie to a DVD in .avi format with size of 700mb you can get the same quality..

but when u convert the movie to.vob and write it to a DVD the quality will be lost for a 6 in 1 pack... for a single movie the quality will be retained as the original..

according to my experience, 120-200 minutes is the good range for a video DVD on a regular 4.7GB DVD disc, but to do that well, you need to use a better software to help you, not magic creator, and with a better dvd creator software, you also can fit/burn multiple movies into a video DVD on a 4.7gb DVD disc, I used RZ DVD Creator to do that well, you can have a try, it can fit/burn any large/long movies into a 4.7gb dvd, it can fit/burn multiple movies into a 4.7gb dvd, it can auto fit the size, it can convert any format movies to video dvd and burn to any dvd disc(DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, etc), such as convert your 700mb/2:15hr avi movies or more movies to video dvd format and burn into a 4.7gb dvd , or like your cousin's dvd, you can burn 6 movies into a video DVD on a 4.7gb dvd, easy to use, insert your 4.7gb dvd disc into your computer dvd burner drive, run RZ DVD Creator, select the dvd burner drive as target folder, directly drag and drop the 700mb/2:15hr avi movies into the software, if you view a message tip "Source DVD size is larger than CD/DVD disc capacity", simply press "Yes", then press START button, the software will convert your 700mb/2:15hr avi movies to video dvd format and auto fit/burn into the inserted 4.7gb dvd, and then you can play the burned video dvd well on dvd player, provide the better quality and more functions, you can yahoo or google search and download RZ DVD Creator, hope it could help you.
