It's probably not DOS you're remembering, but probably the TN3270 front-end that they use for z/OS mainframes. You can still get a hold of it, but without a mainframe to connect to, it is pretty useless.

IBM runs a "Master of the Mainframe" competition every year and gives you an account on their contest server so you can compete. This is one way to get to play with the TN3270.

No dos application in use as per my knowledge at shops. Shops are using advance applications like Visual FoxPro, Microsoft Office Access, Microsoft Office Excel, Visual Basic etc.

Yes you can use old applications on new Normal PC with some limitations.

Install your application (if required)

Make a shortcut

Right Click on the shortcut and select Properties

Click on compatibility

Set required settings

Click "OK" and use the application

Hope this will Help a Bit :)
