Question:
How do I install Ubuntu?

I currently have a Windows XP that sucks. It's slow and has very low memory, and occasionally crashes. I'm just completely fed up with the entire computer, but can't afford to get rid of it. I heard that Ubuntu is actually better if you just really want it to be fast. I went to do the download where it works with your Windows program, but apparently my computer doesn't like the Wubi file. It keeps showing an error message that says:

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\MyDocuments\Downloads\Wubi.exe

This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling this application may fix this problem.

(And yes, I did reinstall it several times, each giving the same error.)

Anyways, at this point, I'm just tired of my system and all of its glitches and I want to completely erase both of the hard drives I have installed (but only one works, the other has a corrupted file that screwed up the whole thing), and just work with an Ubuntu only system. A video of how to do this would be great, and/or a typed set of instructions.

You shouldn't expect Ubuntu to be much faster than XP. It might even be slower. Ubuntu is a big & heavy, modern operating system. If you have an old computer you might want to try a faster distro like Puppy Linux or Arch Linux. If you want to stick with the *buntu family try Lubuntu.

Putg the Ubuntu disk in the drive. Restart the computer. Ubuntu will load to the desktop. There's an installation program on the desktop.

You can boot from a Ubuntu or Parted Magic (another distribution designed for formatting hard drives) And you can just delete the partitions from there, and then do a clean install. Wubi has been glitchy in my experience, so I just boot up from the live cd and install side by side.

I beneficial wish which you're no longer attempting to place in Ubuntu as a application interior homestead windows... merely boot out of your Ubuntu CD/DVD and set up from that. no longer sufficient information. Do you want to place in in twin boot with homestead windows or merely Ubuntu as your purely OS? Partition scheme for Ubuntu set up as a single, purely OS: Partition a million: extensive-unfold, change, 1GB or 2GB the main Partition 2: extensive-unfold, ext4, mount as "/" (root), 20GB to 25GB on your Ubuntu device records Partition 3: extensive-unfold, ext 4, the the remainder of your rigidity, mount as "/homestead" for all your individual records (music, pictures, video, video clips, records, etc) and your individual settings If twin boot with homestead windows it relatively is extra complicated, e mail me.

before installing or reinstalling ubuntu choose to reformat the hard drive... but based on my experienced once you install ubuntu and decided to uninstall it and install windows you will need a software like partition magic so that you can install windows again.
