Okay, I am on the apple website & download update 10.6.2 but cant update until I have 10.6.
I am at 10.5.6 at the moment, and I want to know what I need to download in order to get my macs software as new as possible.

I would do this automatically but my mac is currently offline as I am sending this from another computer

Links and any other help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Mac OS 10.5 and 10.6 are different operating systems in the same way that Windows XP and Vista are different operating systems. You can't install a Windows update that is intended for Vista until you first go out and buy Vista and install it. You can't install a 10.6 update until you buy and install 10.6.

You can update your 10.5 system by using Software Update. You will find it under the Apple logo, top left. Chances are you will find that there are several updates available (but none are related to OS 10.6), so install them all, restart, and use Software Update again.

If you plan to buy OS 10.6 today, don't fret about the Software Update sessions. Just wait a day or two and install 10.6. If you don't plan to install 10.6 right away, use Software Update. It swill probably find one or more security updates. Those are important to avoid problems.

The link below is for ordering OS 10.6. It should arrive in about two business days.

EDIT: About Solaris -- that's a UNIX flavor from Sun Microsystems. OS X is built on a BSD UNIX base, but not a Solaris base.

You can't do a software update to Snow Leopard, which is what 10.6 is. Right now you have Leopard, and you can update that to 10.5.8. But you have to purchase Snow Leopard.

Perhaps to an early verison of MAC OSX, like maybe 10.1 to 10.3. However I severly doubt it will update to 10.5 and 10.6, mainly because of the lack of computer resources and intel processors (namely for 10.6)

You probably need to purchase the Snow Leopard upgrade.

Leopard and Snow Leopard are Solaris-UNIX.

Snow Leopard freed up 6 gigabytes on my hard drive! ♥
